The Blossoms room is for children from three to four years. The Preschool Room is large and airy with an abundance of natural light and two sets of double doors to the shaded outdoor area.
The environment is carefully organised and continually evaluated so that it supports all the children's learning styles and all 6 areas of learning. Our staff make sure there is a good balance of focused and more frenetic activity, providing pre-schoolers with the nurturing and attention they require with the space to grow into and explore their developing capabilities.
Within the preschool room there are inviting reading areas, with plenty of books of all types and topics. As well as story times every day, children can spend time reading here by themselves or with other children.
There is a role play area which changes according to the children's interests.
Having well developed communication and social skills are crucial to future learning success, therefore we focus a great deal on supporting the children's developing speaking and listening skills, through games, stories, songs and resources based on the Phase One Letters and Sounds materials. These skills will really help the children when they begin to learn how to read and write in their Reception class.
Mathematical concepts are introduced through songs and rhymes as well as in everyday experiences making them real to the children.
We encourage the children to be aware of and value similarities and differences between people and make a point of using children's first languages in signs around the nursery.
Our creative area is well stocked with everything from glue to glitter. The children are free to make and do what they like as we value the process of doing rather than the end product.
Free flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces gives the children the opportunity to decide where they learn.
A snack cafe opens mid morning and afternoon and the children can decide when they eat rather than having to stop their playbefore it has reached it's natural end.
Water is available at all times of the day.
All this fun can be hard work, so there are quiet cosy areas where children can relax, unwind or sleep if needed.
The transition into school can be an unsettling time for children and parents. We invite Reception teachers into the setting to meet the children sharing information about their development and interests.
